Session 3
Using Bluesky for Teaching and Learning
Wahiba Chair, MBA
Elva Fisher
At 42M registered users, Bluesky, the decentralized alternative to X, is rapidly gaining traction, especially among academics and educators. However, empirical research on Bluesky remains largely focused on scholarly networking rather than classroom pedagogy. In this session, Wahiba and Elva share findings from their study on using Bluesky as a teaching and learning tool in hybrid communication courses. Attendees will walk away with actionable strategies for incorporating Bluesky in their classroom, using low-stakes, experiential activities and evidence-based approaches designed to improve learning and build community in an AI-driven world.
