I graduated with my Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University. I’ve been a faculty member in the Public Relations Program at Eastern Michigan University (EMU) since 2015. Currently, I teach a variety of public relations and communication undergraduate and graduate courses. In addition, I serve as the faculty adviser of the EMU Public Relations Student Society of America Eleanor Wright Chapter, faculty adviser of Thrifted Threads, and a faculty mentor for the EMU Center for Digital Engagement.
Prior to entering academia, I spent more than a decade in the nonprofit sector, working to help nonprofit organizations advance their causes through strategic public relations. My extensive background includes strategic development, branding, and storytelling for advocacy and engagement. As an avid researcher and writer, I contribute to PR News and Public Relations Journal and several additional peer-reviewed journals. I’m a noted speaker who frequently presents at national and international conferences and business events on topics related to public relations, storytelling, social media, crisis communication, and ethics.
